Fundamental to the Law of Attraction and to the Law of Success is one’s state. It makes sense that you have different emotional states. When you are depressed, it feels very different than when you are happy. The experience of despair is quite opposite the state of vibrant expectancy of something good happening.

We each have the experience of many differing states. Each of those states has a different frequency. When you are optimistic, you are more likely to encounter others who are optimistic. When you are feeling victimized, you are apt to run into others who will be delighted to help you stay in that state. Like attracts like.

It is helpful is to know that these emotional states have a scale. Knowing the scale allows us to make movement in very tiny steps up the scale. We may not be able to move from depression to joy in one step, but we can move from depression to insecurity to anger. And from anger we can move to discouragement to doubt to overwhelment, frustration, pessimism, to boredom. From boredom, it is pretty simple to reach for contentment, even hope, then optimism, and eventually the expectancy of good things, eagerness, and happiness is not too far away. Each of these emotional “places” has their own vibration and frequency. See the post When You Forget for more information about the emotional scale.

Throughout these posts we have said that Faith is a state of mind. Optimism is a state of mind. Happiness is a state of Mind. Success is a state of mind. We habitually hang out in the state that is “normal” for us. A “state” is a frequency, a band of energy, a way of thinking, a state of consciousness, a vibratory frequency, a way of being if you will.

Scarcity consciousness is a state of being or a state of mind. Wealth consciousness is a state of being or a state of mind. They carry very different thoughts, beliefs, and therefore send out very differing vibratory frequencies – they send out very different energies.

Think of it this way. How do you respond when you are around someone who is pessimistic, and tell stories about their lives that portray themselves as the victim of poor luck? How do you respond when you spend time with someone who is upbeat, optimistic about a new project, who is looking forward to what happens next and believes that the make their own luck. You are responding to the “state” of the person. You are responding to the vibratory energy that is being emitted by that state. You are responding to their state of being.

If you have a visceral response to these states, doesn’t it make sense that the Universe and other people also have responses to these states? If you are in a victim state, you may feel some resonance with that person yourself. If you are tired of feeling like a victim, you may be repelled by seeing the victim state of being in another person. If you are in a victim state, you may be irritated by an exuberant person who is looking at the world with hope and expectancy.

Lots of people talk about states of consciousness. You need this to be real to you in language and terms that mean something specific to you.

Your state is absolutely all important to your getting what you want and need, whether it is success in love relationships, money, new jobs, fulfillment, hobbies, friendships, athletics, or spiritual development.

Recognizing that you have different state of awareness or beingness, or consciousness, or states of emotions, or states of mind – whatever fits for you – is essential. When you recognize that you have different states you have more options. You can accept that these are all you – without judgment, and again you have more options.

When you begin to recognize which state you are in, you can begin to make choices about whether or not you want to continue in that state. Each state has tell tale signs. When I get really irritable and grouchy and want to lash out, I know that my victim state has taken command and that I really am irritated with the Universe (actually myself).

If I remember soon enough, I will be grateful that I am in an irritable state, because I have far more energy available than when I am depressed, because it is higher up on the emotional scale. When I am irritated I have more capacity for movement.

Then I do some tapping (EFT) or some prayer or some meditation, or some journaling, or any other numerous ways to move from that state to one where I am happier and more able to relax into the state of being of my choice.

“Comes now a very significant statement of truth:

THOUGHTS WHICH ARE MIXED WITH ANY OF THE FEELINGS OF EMOTIONS, CONSTITUTE A ‘MAGNETIC’ FORCE WHICH ATTRACTS, FROM THE VIBRATIONS OF THE ETHER, OTHER SIMILAR, OR RELATED THOUGHTS. A thought thus “magnetized” with emotion may be compared to a seed which, when planted in fertile soil, germinates, grows, and multiplies itself over and over again, until that which was originally one small seed, becomes countless millions of seeds of the SAME BRAND!” (p.72) (Law of Attraction)

This description by Hill of the law of attraction which is essential to the Law of Success was written in the late 1930’s and edited out of many editions of Think and Grow Rich. Editors did not believe that the mass public would want to hear about vibrations and ether. These same principles were edited out of The Secret. Law of Attraction and Law of Success are based upon the same principles.

“The ether is a great cosmic mass of eternal forces of vibration. It is made up of both destructive vibrations and constructive vibrations. It carries at all times, vibrations of fear, poverty, disease, failure, misery; and vibrations of prosperity, health, success, and happiness, just as surely as it carries the sound of hundreds of orchestrations of music, and hundreds of human voices, all of which maintain their own individuality, and means of identification through the medium of radio.” (Law of attraction)

“From the great storehouse of the ether, the human mind is constantly attracting vibrations which harmonize with that which DOMINATES the human mind. Any thought, idea, plan, or purpose which one holds in one’s mind attracts, from the vibrations of the ether, a host of its relatives, adds these ‘relatives’ to its own force, and grows until it becomes the dominating, MOTIVATING MASTER of the individual in whose mind it has been housed.” (Law of Success)

Essentially Napoleon Hill is saying the same as the Law of Attraction. Like attracts like. If you hold prosperous thoughts, you will attract prosperity. If you hold scarcity thoughts as your dominant vibration, you attract scarcity. Law of Success is built around this magnetic principle. Positive thinking is not the purpose of the Law of Success. Holding positive thoughts are the necessity to attract more positive results – which is the main theorem in Law of Attraction.

In the chapter on the Subconscious Mind, Napoleon Hill once more speaks of how the Law of Attraction and the Law of Success works. He says:

“less than a hundred years ago, men believed the space between the planets to be nothing but a great void, a stretch of dead nothingness. Now thanks to this same power of FAITH, men know that far from being either dead or a void, the space between the planets is very much alive, that it is the highest form of vibration known, excepting, perhaps the vibrations of THOUGHT. Moreover, men know that this living, pulsating, vibratory energy which permeates every atom of
matter, and fills every niche of space, connects every human brain with every other human brain.” (Law of Attraction)

Hill is saying the same thing Wattles says in the Science of Getting Rich. The Law of Attraction and Law of Success are based on vibration and an intelligent universe. Both men outline the principles as they understood them in the 20’s and 30’s.

All matter is energy (Einstein). All matter is vibration. Source is in every particle. Source is Intelligent. Source hears our prayers and our thoughts. Vibration is drawn to like vibration. The reason Law of Success and Law of Attraction works, is that Source is connected to all. Source sends back ideas, and intuitions. Source can arrange coincidences and serendipity for people to meet or have like mind.

“What reason have men to believe that this same energy does not connect every human brain with Infinite Intelligence?” (Law of Success, Law of Attraction)

“There are no toll-gates between the finite mind of man and Infinite Intelligence. The communication costs nothing except Patience, Faith, Persistence, Understanding, and a SINCERE DESIRE to communicate…..” (Law of Success, Law of Attraction)

“The method by which you may communicate with Infinite Intelligence is very similar to that through which the vibration of sound is communicated by radio. If you understand the working principle of radio, you of course, know that sound cannot be communicated through the ether until it has been “stepped up,” or changed into a rate of vibration which the human ear cannot detect. The radio sending station picks up the sound of the human voice, and “scrambles,” or modifies it by stepping up the vibration millions of times. Only in this way, can the vibration of sound be communicated through the ether. After this transformation has taken place, the ether “picks up” the energy (which originally was in the form of vibrations or sound), carries that energy to radio receiving stations and these receiving sets “step” that energy back down to its original rate of vibration so it is recognized as sound.” (Law of Success, Law of Attraction)

The Law of Attraction and Law of Success are based on vibration. In Hill’s model, the subconscious is our “Radio station.” What is being broadcast out of the subconscious is very important. Old beliefs and repetitive thinking go into the subconscious. Some strategies will be talked about in future posts (EFT or Tapping). Where we put our attention is what we draw to us. This is a fundamental principal of Law of Attraction and Law of Success. If we focus on how little money we have then we attract more lack of money. This is a crucial factor in Law of Attraction and Law of Success. This understanding of the Law of Attraction and the Law of Success is extraordinarily important right now. Today. When everywhere we look and hear messages about the economy we are influenced by other’s thoughts and perceptions. If our focus is on “what is” – the slow down, the recession - then it is a guarantee that more of the same will happen. The Law of Attraction guarantees that if the national public focuses on a depression, it will happen.

As we are all influenced greatly by what is being said around us, it is paramount to understand this principle of the Law of Attraction and the Law of Success. What to do? Read the section under strategies. Practice imagining having what you do want, and what it will be like when it arrives. The Law of Attraction listens to the Subconscious. If you are imagining – and that is the only way to get those thoughts into the Subconscious – what you desire, then you are vibrating differently than when you are focused on lack. The Law of Success places much emphasis on optimism – which is a vibratory frequency more in alignment with Success.

But let’s go back to Napoleon Hill who wrote Think and Grow Rich as a direct answer for people who were coming out of the Great Depression. He took great pains to delineate the Law of Success and Law of Attraction to help that generation who were lost in fear.

“The subconscious mind is the intermediary, which translates one’s prayers into terms which infinite Intelligence can recognize, presents the message, and brings back the answer in the form of a definite plan or idea for procuring the object of prayer. ….Before your prayer will reach Infinite Intelligence,…it probably is transformed from its original thought vibration into terms of spiritual vibration. Faith is the only known agency which will give your thoughts a spiritual nature.” (Law of Success, Law of Attraction)

To summarize the past few posts to more fully understand the Law of Success and the Law of Attraction:

The subconscious is our connecting Link with Infinite Intelligence.
The subconscious mind is fed by habit.
You can conscious“feed” the subconscious with thoughts mixed with
Faith, Burning Desire, Powerful emotions, Imagination.
These ideas can be submitted to the subconscious only through Imagination.
Prayers are this kind of “conscious feeding”
The state you are in when you pray determines the result.
Pray with Faith and Expectancy. (Ask and it is Given)
Imagine that you already in possession of that which you desire.
Thoughts and Images are things.
The Universe arranges itself around you based on your vibration.
If you vibrate scarcity and poverty – you get more of it.
If you vibrate abundance and plenty – you get more of it.
What you focus upon is what you attract to yourself magnetically.
Every particle of the Universe is intelligent.
Einstein says the most important question there is:
Is the Universe friendly or not?

You get to pick. What kind of life do you want to have? I focused on poverty and lack most of my life. I decided that I had had enough. The Universe definitely provided me what I had been focusing on and the stories I had been telling myself and others. I much prefer feeding myself images created in the 17 second process – a strategy from the Law of Attraction and the Law of Success.

The Law of Success and the Law of Attraction want you to have what you want. The Universe will provide it to you as you imagine it to be. You get to apply a little will power and choice to what you think about. The Universe is waiting for you to apply the Law of Success and the Law of Attraction in whatever way you wish.

Tomorrow we will talk about states of being and how they affect our vibration. The vibration that we are emitting governs the effect we receive from the Law of Attraction and the Law of Success.

“Faith is the head chemist of the mind. When FAITH is blended with the vibration of thought, the subconscious mind instantly picks up the vibration, translates it into its spiritual equivalent, and transmits it to Infinite Intelligences, as in the case of Prayer.”

“The emotions of FAITH, LOVE, and SEX are the most powerful of all the major positive emotions. When the three are blended, they have the effect of “coloring” the vibration of thought in such a way that it instantly reaches the subconscious mind, where it is changed into its spiritual equivalent, the only form that induces a response from Infinite Intelligence.

“Love and faith are psychic; related to the spiritual side of man. Sex is purely biological, and related only to the physical. The mixing, or blending of these three emotions has the effect of opening a direct line of communication between the finite, thinking mind of man, and Infinite Intelligence.” Is this not prayer? Prayer, Faith and Belief we defined differently in Law of Success.

Faith is a state of mind that you develop over time. Desire – especially a burning desire – can be the passion that you can blend with your thought until you have developed Faith. Then we use our imagination to imagine it accomplished, and the subconscious and the universe will not differentiate between what is real and what is imagined. Faith, Prayer, Imagination, Desire are absolute key components to the Law of Success and the Law of Attraction. Hill says. “You may benefit by passing on to your subconscious mind, any DESIRE which you wish translated into its physical or monetary equivalent, in a state of expectancy or BELIEF that the transmutation will actually take place. Your BELIEF, or FAITH, is the element which determines the action of your subconscious mind.”

The Law of Success goes on to say (via Napoleon Hill) “conduct yourself just as you would, if you were ALREADY IN POSSESSION OF THE MATERIAL THING WHICH YOU ARE DEMANDING.” In prayer, you must ask and believe it is given.

In the 17 second technique, you imagine what you want as having been accomplished. You see it in as many ways as possible. By doing this imagination technique, you are developing faith, expectancy, and you are delivering to your subconscious mind the images of what you want. This technique is a form of prayer.

Law of Success stresses burning desire, faith, expectancy that it will happen, and the use of your imagination as the way to impress upon your subconscious that which you want to have or be. When you fervently, with passion, communicate this way, you are intentionally communicating via prayer with the Universe, which will deliver back to you that which you ask. Pray with faith and expectancy. Your prayer will be answered. Law of Success and Law of Attraction demand it. “Through a method of procedure, unknown to man, the subconscious mind draws upon the forces of Infinite Intelligence for the power with which it voluntarily transmutes one’s desires into their physical equivalent, making use, always of the most practical media by which this end may be accomplished.

“There is plenty of evidence to support the belief that the subconscious mind is the connecting link between the finite mind of man and Infinite Intelligence. It is the intermediary through which one may draw upon the forces of Infinite Intelligence at will. It, alone, contains the secret process by which mental impulses are modified and changed into their spiritual equivalent. It alone, is the medium through which prayer may be transmitted to the source capable of answering prayer.

“The possibilities of creative effort connected with the subconscious mind are stupendous and imponderable. They inspire one with awe.”

“….The very fact that the subconscious mind is the medium of communication between the thinking mind of man and Infinite Intelligence is, of itself, a thought which almost paralyzes one’s reason.

“After you have accepted, as a reality, the existence of the subconscious mind, and understand its possibilities, as a medium for transmuting your DESIRES into their physical or monetary equivalent, you will comprehend the full significance of the instructions given in the chapter on DESIRE. You will also understand why you have been repeatedly admonished to MAKE YOUR DESIRES CLEAR, AND TO REDUCE THEM TO WRITING. You will also understand the necessity of PERESISTENCE in carrying out instructions. “

Napoleon Hill goes on to say that the thirteen principles behind the Law of Success “are the stimuli with which you acquire the ability to reach, and to influence your subconscious mind. Do not become discouraged, if you cannot do this upon first attempt. Remember that the subconscious mind may be voluntarily directed only through habit, under the directions given in the chapter on FAITH. You have not yet had time to master faith. Be patient. Be Persistent.”

“A good many statements in the chapters on faith and auto-suggestion will be repeated here, for the benefit of YOUR subconscious mind. Remember, your subconscious mind functions voluntarily, whether you make any effort to influence it or not. This, naturally, suggests to you that thoughts of fear and poverty, and all negative thoughts serve as stimuli to your subconscious mind, unless, you master these impulses and give it more desirable food upon which it may feed.

“The subconscious mind will not remain idle! If you fail to plant DESIRES in your subconscious mind, it will feed upon the thoughts which reach it as the result of your neglect. We have already explained that thought impulses, both negative and positive are reaching the subconscious mind continuously…..

“For the present, it is sufficient if you remember that you are living daily, in the midst of all manner of thought impulses which are reaching your subconscious mind, without your knowledge. Some of these impulses are negative, some are positive. You are now engaged in trying to help shut off the flow of negative impulses, and to aid in voluntarily influencing your subconscious mind, through positive impulses of DESIRE.

“When you achieve this, you will possess the key which unlocks the door to your subconscious mind. Moreover, you will control that door so completely, that no desirable thought may influence your subconscious mind.

“Everything which man creates, BEGINS in the form of a thought impulse. Man can create nothing which he does not first conceive in THOUGHT. Through the aid of the imagination, thought impulses may be assembled into plans. The imagination, when under control, may be used for the creation of plans or purposes that lead to success in one’s chosen occupation.

“All thought impulses, intended for transmutation into their physical equivalent, voluntarily planted in the subconscious mind, must pass through the imagination, and be mixed with faith. The “mixing” of faith with a plan, or purpose, intended for submission to the subconscious mind, may be done ONLY through the imagination.

“From these statements, you will readily observe that the voluntary use of the subconscious mind calls for coordination and application of all the principles.

“Ella Wheeler Wilcox gave evidence of her understanding of the power of the subconscious mind when she wrote:

“You never can tell what a thought will do
In bringing you hate or love-
For thoughts are things, and their airy wings
Are swifter than carrier doves.
They follow the law of the universe-
Each thing creates its kind,
And they speed O’er the track to bring you back
Whatever went out from your mind.”

“Mrs. Wilcox understood the truth, that thoughts which go out from one’s mind, also imbed themselves deeply in one’s subconscious mind, where they serve as a magnet, pattern, or blueprint by which the subconscious mind is influenced while translating them into their physical equivalent. Thoughts are truly things, for the reason that every material thing begins in the form of thought-energy.

“The subconscious mind is more susceptible to influence by impulses of thought mixed with “feeling” or emotion, than by those originating solely in the reasoning portion of the mind. In fact there is much evidence to support the theory, that ONLY emotionalized thoughts have any ACTION influence upon the subconscious mind. It is a well known fact that emotion or feeling, rules the majority of people. If it is true that the subconscious mind responds more quickly to, and is influenced more readily by thought impulses which are well mixed with emotion, it is essential to become familiar with the more important of emotions. There are seven major positive emotions, and seven major negative emotions. The negatives voluntarily inject themselves into the thought impulses, which insure passage into the subconscious mind. The positive must be injected, through the principle of auto-suggestion, into the thought impulses which an individual wishes to pass on to his subconscious mind.

“These emotions, or feeling impulses, may be likened to yeast in a loaf of bread, because they constitute the ACTION element, which transforms through impulses from the passive to the active state. Thus may one understand why thought impulses, which have been well mixed with emotion, are acted upon more readily than thought impulses originating in “cold reason.

“You are preparing yourself to influence and control the “inner audience” of your subconscious mind, in order to hand over to it the DESIRE for money, which you wish transmuted into its monetary equivalent. It is essential, therefore, that you understand the method of approach to this “inner audience.” You must speak its language, or it will not heed your call. It understands best the language of emotion or feeling. …….Remember in this connection, that you are studying a book which is intended to help you develop a “money consciousness” by filling your mind with positive emotions. One does not become money conscious by filling one’s mind with negative emotions.

“Form the habit of applying and using the positive emotions! Eventually they will dominate your mind so completely, that the negatives cannot enter it.”

Holding the Question is a success process in which you walk during your day and your life “holding” the question. Some people would say it is a meditative state. It doesn’t have to be. An artist I knew loved pioneer women and read and studied about them for years. She wondered long and hard about the image to use to convey the power and the depth of those courageous women. One day as she was watching television she saw a close up camera shot of two hands pushing fabric through a sewing machine, and Eureka, Success. She knew. She created a successful series of painting using hands to convey the work they did – the women of the prairies.

Holding the question is a form of the law of attraction (aligned with the law of success). Ask such questions as “I wonder what I could sell?” “I wonder what image I could use?” “I wonder what particular attributes of mine would the universe like me to successfully use to put my gifts out there for others?” “I wonder what kind of successful business would enable me to thrive?” By wondering about the answer, you are holding up the possibility of an answer, and one will come to you successfully.

This is not difficult. “I wonder where we should eat tonight,” “I wonder what movie we should see this weekend,” “I wonder if we should have some people over?” are the same kinds of questions. You do it all the time. You are just broadening the arena. Do you research what movies are playing? Do you contemplate what restaurants you like, and how far you want to drive?

You do the same in the process of holding the question and with the same kind of success attitude as well. You know there is an answer to what movie you will eventually see. My artist friend received her successful answer, though it took five years before everything gelled for her to see it.

Tell yourself that you are “holding the question.” Do your homework and your research, gather all you know together, and then lift the question up to Source, to the Universe, to God, whatever you call your higher power. Then go about your days, (weeks, and months if necessary) knowing that the answer will come. It is law. It is an appropriate use of the Law of Success.

Control your attention. Your subconscious mind needs a clear picture on which to act. Control your attention because what you focus on increases. Focus on your enterprise. Imagine it in its full-blown scope. By your single-pointedness, you communicate to the universe that you are expecting success, and one way it might look. Control your attention is the secret key to law of success.

When you control your attention, you can choose what you focus upon. When you are in touch with your vision and dream of the future, it is easy to control your attention. Single-pointedness is a tool in the secret key to law of success. When you are disconnected from your dream or vision of the future, it is not as easy to control your attention. You cannot control your attention by telling yourself to not focus on something that is bothering you.

You can’t tell your mind not to focus on envy, worry, doubt, jealousy. You will just keep seeing more of the same. What you can do to control your attention is to focus on something else. By focusing on what you want, in clear detail, you give your mind a direction. Help control your attention by asking the question, ‘what is it I want in this situation? This technique is part of the secret key to law of success.

Many people react to what they experience. To control your attention, you need not focus on the “what is”. Gently turn your attention to what you want – “What is to be.” It is hard to jump from depression, fear, discouragement to fleshing out your dream of what you want “to be”. So you control your attention by taking small steps – each small step is part of the secret key to operating the law of success.

If your fear is driving your bus, control your attention by saying “well of course part of me is afraid. There is more to me than my fear, worry, and discouragement.” As you soothe the part of you that has taken charge of your thinking, you help yourself remember other aspects of self and you are gently beginning to control your attention. Remind yourself of the secret key of law of success by saying “That part of me has been listening to the news and has gotten worried. That is not all the news however. There are people who are happy and prosperous, and doing quite well no matter what the times. I intend to join that group of people.”

“It is the universe’s pleasure to bring well-being and prosperity into my life. I will pull out my focus book and remember the thoughts and ideas that bring me joy and pleasure. As I turn my focus, I am operating the secret key to the law of success.”

When a lot of people think the same sort of thoughts, it sets up a magnetic charge. If you think thoughts that have a similar pattern to those thought by this mass of people, you can easily join in the “group think” and find yourself in a funk. Control your attention by aligning your thoughts with well being and plenty which is part of the secret key to the law of success.

To control your attention, you may want to find a spiritual discipline that helps you routinely tune into the infinite. That is why prayer, meditation, and imagery are so successful. Purposeful tuning of your mind and thoughts to something greater that is expansive is a powerful way to control your attention one of the secret keys to operating with the law of success.

What you focus on expands. It is the Law of Attraction. It is the Law of Success. Focus on lack, and lack expands. The story you tell other people about your current financial situation is your money future. The story you tell yourself about money is what your future will be. The secret of the Law of Attraction is not to focus on “what is.”

The secret Law of Success is to focus on what is coming and what will be here soon. Won’t it be wonderful when it arrives? The Law of Attraction and the Law of Success say that like attracts like. Bad feelings, worry, and depression attracts more bad feelings; subtracts ideas and opportunities, attracts contention, and attracts less fortune. Contraction occurs.

Good feelings attracts good feeling, attracts windows of opportunity, attracts cooperation of the universe, attracts cooperation of others, and attracts good fortune. Expansion occurs. You want money? Be a money magnet. Tell yourself that you are a money magnet. Law of Attraction says you are. Law of Success says you can do and be anything you want to be.

The Secret that was edited out of Think and Grow Rich is not explicitly told. Why? According to Napoleon Hill “the Secret has been mentioned no fewer than a hundred times throughout this book. It has not been directly named, for it seems to work more successfully when it is merely uncovered and left in sight, where THOSE WHO ARE READY, and SEARCHING FOR IT, may pick it up. That is why Mr. Carnegie tossed it to me so quietly, without giving me its specific name.”

The Secret that was edited out of Think and Grow Rich is powerful. The original publishers must have been worried that the mass market would not buy a book that talked about things like vibration and the power of thought. They edited out more than 100 pages of the original manuscript. The Secret is very difficult to discern if your copy of Think and Grow Rich is around 270 pages; you have the edited version. My version has 387 pages. It was published in 1962 by Combined Registry Co in Chicago.

He should have told us that the ether in which this little earth floats, in which we move and have our being, is a form of energy moving at an inconceivably high rate of vibration, and that the ether is filled with a form of universal power which ADAPTS itself to the nature of the thoughts we hold in our minds; and INFLUENCES us, in natural ways, to transmute our thoughts into their physical equivalent.

If the poet had told us of this great truth, we would know WHY IT IS that we are the Masters of our Fate, the Captains of our Souls. He should have told us, with great emphasis, that this power makes no attempt to discriminate between destructive thoughts and constructive thoughts, that it will urge us to translate into physical reality thoughts of poverty, just as quickly as it will influence us to act upon thoughts of riches.

He should have told us, too, that our brains become magnetized with the dominating thoughts which we hold in our minds, and, by means with which no man is familiar, these “magnets” attract to us the forces, the people, the circumstances of life which harmonize with the nature of our dominating thoughts.”

The Secret was also heavily edited out of the movie “The Secret.” Publishers were afraid that the secret would not be accepted by the public. All you need do to have the secret unfold is to hold the intent in your mind that you will uncover the secret. Have a burning desire to discover this secret. You will attract books, people, TV programs, to you that will lead to your finding and understanding the
Secret that has been known through time.

The secret key to the Law of Success #9 is to Think Accurately. All your creations, plans, achievements are begun as thoughts. Your mind is like a garden. It can be groomed and weeded into a cultivation of beauty and productivity. Or it can be left alone to be overrun with weeds carried as seeds on the wind and by passing birds.

To Think Accurately is a skill that is developed over time. Choosing your thoughts, and discerning where your thought come from is very important. Often our thoughts are generated from the beliefs and experiences of our upbringing or those people with whom we hang out. Your thoughts are very powerful. Your thoughts are vibration. What you think about activates the universe. To really understand this from a positive perspective, let’s talk again about the 17 second process.

“You are only 17 seconds Away from 68 Seconds to Fulfillment.”

“With only a few seconds of focusing your attention on a subject, you activate the vibration of that subject within you, and immediately the Law of Attraction begins to respond to that activation. The longer you keep your attention focused on something, the easier it becomes for you to continue to focus upon it because you are attracting, through the Law of Attraction, other thoughts or vibrations that are the essence of the thought you began with.

“Within 17 seconds of focusing on something, a matching vibration becomes activated. And now as that focus become stronger and the vibration becomes clearer, the Law of Attraction will bring to you more thoughts that match. At this point, the vibration will not have much attraction power, but if you maintain your focus longer, the power of vibration will become further-reaching. And if you manage to stay purely focused upon any thought for as little as 68 seconds, the vibration is powerful enough that its manifestation begins.

When you visualize something happening that you really want to happen in specific detail as though it is happening at this very moment, it is powerful. When you pray and imagine that your prayer is answered immediately, and you “see” scenes taking place after your prayer is answered, in detail with as many senses as you can, you feel great, you feel gratitude, and you are sending your appreciation to God for your answered prayer.

When I had my home in Minnesota on the market last year, for six months I had no sale. Then my daughter and I decided to do “17 seconds” every day. We would focus on how good it would feel when we received the phone call from our agent. We imagined going to closing and signing all the documents. We imagined seeing the big red SOLD sign being hung on our For Sale sign. We imagined pulling out of our driveway with our Casita travel trailer for the last time, and the sense of freedom we would feel.

There was a lot going on at the time. A lot of worry and fear clouded our emotions. But we carried on doing our “17 seconds” which usually lasted about a minute and a half. We would be exhilarated when we were finished each time. Our fear ebbed the more we did 17 seconds, because we were making the scenario real to our bodies.

Then I got that call. It came three weeks later. It didn’t happen exactly as we imagined. It was better than we imagined. The sale of the home was consummated about seven weeks later. Some very difficult circumstances were navigated very easily and mostly effortlessly. That’s another by-product of 17 seconds.

This weekend I wanted to buy a new mattress. Before I went shopping, My daughter and I did ‘17 seconds’ on finding exactly what we wanted and were specific about how much we wanted to pay. We found that mattress on our first stop for $900 below retail price, and the salesperson told us it was below cost. I know it was because we did our preparation of ‘17 seconds.’

Remember ’17 seconds’ is what it takes to begin aligning your mind. For each increment of 17 seconds that you add of focused thought, visualization, prayer, the power gets amped up. I never time my 17 seconds, because I keep adding to the visualization until I feel it “take.” In my home, we try to do our ’17 seconds’ process together. It helps to do it with someone else. You feel the emotional support of doing it together. And it is wonderful to share the exhilaration of something well imagined together when we have finished. We often give each other a high five.

What you think about is very powerful. Enjoy unleashing the eager Universe by doing ‘17 seconds’ on something you want. It gets so that you don’t even have to do 17 seconds. I wanted a very large mirror to put out on my north facing patio. Within four days, my sister walked in carrying a huge door sized mirror that she ‘found’ at the dumpster when taking out my trash. So even 17 seconds can manifest. It works.
