Be Clear About What You Want: The Key to New Year Vision Board

Tuesday, January 05th, 2016

As I  review my vision board from last year,  I want to be much clearer this coming year about my vision or my goal. To stay in Flow, you need to know where you are going.  Directionality is helpful to the Universe to deliver what it is that you want. Building a business? Then you have to be clear. “I want my number of clients to double this year.”

Let’s look at an example. I want to have much better health this year. There are many small steps I need to take to get better health. Dancing, walking, drinking lots of water, leaving sugar out of my diet, getting enough sleep, taking my medications every day, and doing the protocols that my doctors have given me every day is an important step. I need to have the intention of getting more well, I need to vision and imagine my lungs, my digestive system, my bones and muscles, my body getting more fit.

Last year, I didn’t have enough specificity on my vision board about health.  I did stop a lot of stress by reducing my reactivity to people and situations.  That really helped.  I went ten months with having almost no sugar. I lost weight (a side benefit). I look much better.  So I made progress.

Health area is top right pie

There are other ways I need more progress.  I want to expand my beliefs to KNOW that much better health is possible (I am watching movies like “The Living System,” “You Can Heal Your Life,” “Awake,” “What the Bleep.”)  I want to be open to the Miracle of Life and Mystery. I want my lungs to be clear, vibrant, able to breathe deeply.

Knowing what you want (with the specific steps you can take), gives your unconscious, the universe, and the universal genies the pictures of what you would like to create in your life.  Then it sends you all kinds of synchronicities and opportunities to help you move in that direction.

Last year I had the simple word Dance on my vision board. My pulmonary doctor told me that dance would be very good for me. So with fierce intentionality, I have been going dancing, and taking waltz lessons.  I love it. It is fun, and it is helping me build a healthier body. Last night I began my intermediate waltzing class. It was dark, cold, but my intention blazed and kept me going and I never even thought about staying home.  Now I want to have that same intentionality about the other things that will give me much better Health.

I have used Health as an illustration 0f one area in my life where I am building fierce intentionality. I am going to post a picture of what last’s year’s vision board looked like. I will take the whole month of January, if I need it, to get even clearer about the topics that I am giving myself as goals for this coming year.

Vision Boards and Goal Setting

Saturday, January 31st, 2015

Vision Boards are something I complete at least once a year. In December of 2014 and January of 2015 I contemplated what I would like my vision for this year to be. The title I gave to this particular board is “Life Is Good.” Colors and words really energize me so I have a precious box of clippings of headlines, photos, words that I draw from. I go through magazines looking for particular things that grab me. It is so fun.

Before I started the vision board, I just held the question in my heart “What do I want to focus upon in 2015. What are the specific areas I want to grow?” This year I had several areas.

Wellness

Eating better, feeling better physically, stay healthy
      Emotional wellbeing: to treasure myself.

Embracing the Now. Really savoring the moment, every hour, every day and asking the question
“What can I offer the word that no one else around here can?”

Grow my consulting practice where I practice presence, guided by soul, and help others create great lives for themselves with a power new technique I am developing.

Play with friends and share joy and smiles.

Enjoy Intimacy with a beloved by getting close without going nuts. Then I found the best quote that I would not have put on my board before now, which says that “Intimacy is a willingness to be vulnerable.” Oofda! Now that’s some personal courage, because Vulnerability scares me to death.

Find my new place that is an oasis to nourish my heart and mind, feed my soul, where I can savor the summer, garden and be joyful.

My process is an intuitive organic one which is like the intuitive way I live my life. When I finish, I have created something visually attractive that holds my attention all year long.

Other people like to be more goal oriented. Whatever works for you is terrific.

If you are more logically, sequential in your thinking, then I would invite you to listen to Vishen Lahkiani who is the CEO or MindValley and FinerMinds, which are personal development companies that are very inspiring. He did a speech redefining goals. He separates goals into 2 categories. Are these means goals or are they end goals?
Three questions help you turn your attention to End Goals.

What experiences do I want in my life?
How do I want to grow?
How do I want to contribute?

You can listen to Vishen’s talk Goals Revisited. I urge you to listen to a description that helps you convert your thinking from taking steps to achieve an end, to seeing a broad vision for yourself ad directing yourself toward that dream.

Another framework is to try to make sure your life is balanced by making aspirations in 12 areas in your life.

      A) Health and Fitness
      B) Intellectual Life- skills, languages
      C) Emotional Life –happiness in the now, getting rid of limiting beliefs
      D) Character – values, what do you believe in, compassion, humor
      E) Spiritual Life – how often do you meditate, feeling more interconnected with all life
      F) Love Relationships – Learning to Care for Other, for Self, for the Relationship
      G) Parenting Vision
      H) Social Life
      I) Financial Life
      J) Career: What do you want to build?
      K) Quality of Life
              L) Life Vision – what mark do you want to leave on the world

These 12 categories are discussed in another Vishen talk called The Theory of Awesomeness: How to live in the Ultimate State of Human Existence that he got from a man named John Butcher.

Here’s my thought. To build a balanced life, you want to think about the huge vision of your life and create what I call a life plan. I can’t accomplish a goal in each one of these areas in one year of my life. I just can’t focus on that many things. It puts me into overwhelm. But if you have some extra time, you may want to begin creating a Life Plan, just as banks require Business Plans if they are thinking of giving you funds. If you write it down, you are much more likely to achieve your vision.

Law of Success Vision Boards

Monday, December 31st, 2012

Law of Success uses Vision Boards as one way of bringing success into one’s life. Law of Success uses imagery and the impetus of all the energy that one spends to begin the manifestation process.

We have talked about a technique called 17 seconds as part of the activation of the Law of Success. When you begin to hold a thought for 17 seconds, alignment begins to occur. When you can hold that thought without any interruption for multiples of 17 seconds, the universe begins to line up with your thoughts.

Vision Boards are wonderful ways to implement the 17 second process and imagination and goal setting. Success loves to follow us when we put down on paper those things we want – especially with the use of images.

Vision Boards can include more than just tangible things. I almost never put things like a car or house on my vision board. That’s just too limiting. Last year my vision included the words “gather in community.” Seven months after I put that vision board together, I was living in a condo community that functions intentionally as community. I love it.

Last year my vision board included the word “Support.” I found a club where I share my talents, my expertise, and I have all the support I want and need for my publishing endeavors.

How to do Vision Boards:
a. Set an intention to create a vision board. Ask your highest self to help you create the coming year with purpose.
b. Reflect on what you want to add into your life. It might be qualities, like order, harmony, or skills like marketing and writing.
c. Gather magazines and printed material, glue sticks, scissors, and some kind of poster board. I often use a colored background.
d. Begin to browse through the magazines looking for pictures, headlines, words, that appeal to you. Just have fun and pull out pictures and words.
e. I might take a week or a month to gather my images and words.
f. Take a special time to review your clippings, and sort through which ones you want on your Vision Board. I like to have yellow and orange on my Vision Board, and I almost always include a picture of a Beach, because I love beaches.
g. Lay out your treasures on the colored poster board. Try to leave some blank space between your picture. Choose carefully what you want as a focus for the year, and put that in the center. Last year I had a picture from a conference brochure that talked about helping the world transform.
h. Allow this process to be a creative one where you don’t have all the control. Give the Universe space to work and work through and with you. I am always surprised with how my vision board looks when it is complete.
i. When the vision board feels complete to you, use the glue stick to adhere the pictures and words to the vision board.
j. Post your vision board somewhere to be seen on a regular basis. Last year, I took a picture of it with my phone and used it as a screen saver for my phone.
k. Hold thanks and appreciation as you are working on your vision board, and after it is completed.
l. Begin to hold the feelings of what it is like to have these new circumstances in your life. Enjoy the sensations of walking on the sandy beach, or feeling the sun on your face, or experience the new connections that are in your life. See them, feel them, smell them, taste them and savor them, way before they are actually here in your reality.
m. Talk to yourself in words such as “won’t it be wonderful to have more confidence in myself?” “My life is good and things work out for me.” “What shall I wear to the beach when I go?” “I’m savoring the closeness of eating breakfast on the deck with my partner, and walking hand in hand on the beach.” “I love the sparkle in his eyes when he looks at me.” “We are having such fun getting to know each other.”

You make the images so real in your mind that you taste them and feel them happening. Its fun to enjoy your imagination like that. Before you know it, your reality reflects your imagination. It is Law. The Law of Success and the Law of Attraction look to the images in your mind, heart and soul. to see what you want. So be careful to put images there that you want. One such way is to create a Vision Board. New Years’ Eve or New Year’s Day, or the whole beginning month of January are good times to creat such a vision board.

You might want to look at a couple of other entries to stoke your imagination.

New Year Resolutions and Vision Boards

Friday, December 31st, 2010

New Year Resolutions often are used by those who practice Law of Success.  It is a time of beginnings.  It is the time that we Resolve to try to do our best.  We set goals. We produce images of the future.  It is a powerful time.

Most of us do not comprehend the power that we invoke when we make New Year Resolutions.  Instead, we hear the internal chatter of how it won’t work, and how most people never follow through on their Resolutions.  But there is great power in New Year Resolutions.

First it is a time when all of us are contemplating the future instead of only stewing about our present or past.  So there is a huge mental mind field that is created by many people thinking about possibilities.  There is no other time in the entire year that holds so much energy and intention about the future, held by so many.

Second.  There is real optimism present in that group think, and it is contagious.  We all can touch into our optimism.

Third.  We give ourselves freedom to dream, and we set goals, both realistic and unrealistic.  It may be to take up some form of exercise, to boost our sales to a new high, look for a job we love, write that book, meet the love of our life, or take karate lessons.

Fourth.  We invoke some of our most potent powers.  Imagination. Creativity, Focus, and Will.  We clear our minds of chatter and imagine a future when we are thin, prosperous, loved, and contribute to the greater good.  Resolve is one of the attributes of Will.  When we say, “I resolve that I will take up an exercise program”, we are invoking that personal will in a powerful way to serve our desire, dreams, and goals.

Fifth:  The way we make these New Year Resolutions is important.  When we write them down, we give these Resolves incredible potency. When we add creativity to these Resolves by making pictures, making a Treasure Map, making a poster of the dreams we want to come true, we are bringing the genies of the universe together to bring to us what we want, because we have such clear images. This is an intense version of the 17 seconds process. Last year I made a vision board also called a treaure map – which is a poster with pictures and goals made out of clippings from magazines.  I wanted to meet a romantic partner, and the pictures that I clipped out all had boats in them.  I did meet a man, and he looked very much like the pictures I had pasted on my board, and his goal was to live on a boat.

Years ago, I made such a vision board/treasure map and I included pictures of places where I might want to visit, and some words and pictures to reflect professional writing.  Later that year, I made a presentation at an international conference on a topic that I had been writing about professionally.  I stopped on the way to visit an old friend in Oregon.  She took me down the Columbia Gorge to Multnomah Waterfalls.  Later when I looked back at my poster, I realized that a photo of that exact waterfall was on that poster.

One law of success guru made such a vision board/treasure map and included a photo of a house to represent his deep desire to live in an beautiful modern affluent home.  Years passed.  He moved.  While unpacking, he ran into the old chart, and his son asked him what it was.  There on that poster was a magazine photo of the exact home that he had just moved into.  Gave me chills to hear his story.

So there is much power in making New Year Resolutions.  The follow-through is also important, because very few of us have received real training about how to muster our attention in the days and weeks that follow.  It is a process.

We will address some of those issues in the following posts.  Today, have fun.  Gather some magazines and clip out words and images that makes your heart sing.  Glue them to a poster. Make your own vision board and treasure map for the coming year.

We  here at OfSuccessLaw.com wish you days of joy and an abundance of prosperity and success.

Intention

Wednesday, September 30th, 2009

Intention is a key ingredient in the law of success. To have intent means to have the desire and commitment to something. When we hold an intention, we are activating a set point around a goal or a desire. The intention acts like a magnetic pole. Our thoughts begin clustering around the intention. The universe then begins to respond to the intention and synchronistic events and connections occur.

My daughter loves horses and has ridden for many years. She wanted to become a working student for a horse trainer and live on a horse ranch. A year or two ago, she made that intention. I didn’t know how it would happen. We were in a new state, did not know anyone who had horses.

Two years later, through a series of connections, a friend of hers told her about a working student position. She took the position, and then moved with the trainer back to the horse farm. Her intention was magnetic. Intention is a force to be reckoned with.

Holding an intention will help you focus on your commitment. My daughter intended on becoming a working student who lived on a horse farm. She is now living that dream.

Happiness works that way as well. So does success. “I intend to be happy today. I intend to have a successful day.” These sentences can be combined with a few minutes of visualization, and you most likely will have a happy and successful day. Law of Success uses intention in many ways. We will write more articles about intention and the Law of Success.

In the meantime, intend to have safe driving journeys and good food today. Intend to have positive thoughts about the people you love. It makes you feel really good.

You can apply Intention in many areas of your life. I use then when I do a process called 17 Seconds, and I especially use them at the beginning of each New Year when I create a Vision Board.  See the below links.

“Prosperity Success Secret of 17 Seconds”

Tuesday, June 24th, 2008

Prosperity success secret of 17 seconds
has become a much used tool for reaching for quick results.

From the Abraham Hicks’ work, comes a process to amplify the law of success. For 17 seconds, pray, meditate, or visualize what you want to occur. This prosperity success secret process aligns yourself with the energy of Source or God, and with the positive event that you wish to have happen. If you can hold the idea for 17 seconds or for multiples of 17, you can enhance the energy with this prosperity success secret.

When you pray or use the 17 seconds prosperity success secret for someone else; I find that it is easier. I could much more easily concentrate 17 seconds on the success of my brother’s monthly sales campaign than on something I want. Abraham says to test the Universe. I do it regularly with the 17 seconds process prosperity success secret.

When I am using the prosperity success secret of 17 seconds (which can easily stretch out over a minute or so), I focus on my intent as I pray and meditate. When I use the prosperity success secret of 17 seconds, I actively visualize what events might happen when my desire is carried out. Focusing on my brother, I imagined having him call me and tell me how many orders had come in that week. I imagined seeing money deposited into his checkbook. I imagined his gratitude for his God given success and answered prayers. I see him packaging up his orders and getting them ready to be posted.

My daughter and I are traveling together, and we will do the prosperity success secret of 17 seconds together both as a meditation, a prayer, and visualization process. “Wherever two or more are gathered….” When we do the prosperity success secret of 17 seconds together, we almost always receive the results we envisioned.

We will do 17 seconds on getting a refreshing good night rest and waking up rejuvenated. We will do 17 seconds on having a safe and easy travel day. We did 17 seconds on selling our second automobile. We did 17 seconds prosperity success secret prayer for needed rain at my sister’s farm. We did a 17 seconds success secret pray for imminent rain to pass by until the roof was resealed while my niece’s porch was being built.

We have asked for $1000 more than we expected to come to us within one week. It showed up in less than 24 hours. Prayer, Meditation, and 17 seconds are all ways to tap into the Infinite Source of all that is. They are powerful prosperity success secrets. Here’s to your success using the prosperity secret of 17 seconds.

One powerful way to use the 17 second process is by creating a Vision Board.  Here are links to posts about how to create such a project.
