The Secret to Optimism is You and Your Choice.

After years of reading and research, prayer and masterminding, owning businesses and working for someone else, I came to the conclusion that to really become extravagantly successful, I needed to learn to think differently; the secret to being happy, having optimism, and being successful.

Ask and It Is Given began another series of deep changes in my life. It was time, I thought. What did I have to lose? Might as well try thinking with optimism. A positive attitude and being happy would be the worst result. So I gave myself a time frame of one month, and then one year to try thinking with optimism and a positive attitude. Wonders! I became a happy person overnight. After constantly being accused of only looking at the hole instead of the dough-nut, this was simply a marvelous way to live. I had stumbled upon the Secret of Optimism. I only had to choose what I thought.

    Setting Intent is the first step in the secret of optimism and creating a happy, successful life with positive attitude.

    Deliberation about the Intent is also a part of the steps in the secret of optimism; becoming prosperous successful and happy. In this case I had deliberated for years of the pros and cons of developing the practice of thinking different. Being wealthy, successful, and deliriously happy attracted me. I could really commit to this process of thinking with optimism to create a positive attitude.

    Commitment to that Intent is the third step in the secret of optimism and creating a positive attitude and a happy successful life.


    Becoming Aware
    of my thoughts (Recognize them) is the next logical step in the secret of optimism, success, positive attitude, and happiness. Years of conscious building had helped. It is a little awkward and painful to watch one’s thoughts each minute and each hour. So much habit. So much focus on the negative. Uggh.

    Acceptance of what you think without judgment is an imperative part in the in the secret of optimism, success, positive attitude and being happy. I developed ways to say, “Oh yes, there’s my cynic (judge) raising its head again. Well of course it would feel that way.”

    Have a Happy Thought Stockpile. Choose a couple of events, dreams or wishes that you can think about in detail that make you feel good. When you are thinking a stream of negative thoughts, you just can’t stop thinking those same thoughts, so you must change your focus to something pleasant. A list of happy thoughts is a magical tool in the secret of optimism, success, positive attitude and being happy.

    Shift your attention to something that fills you with joy and happiness; the next stage in the secret of optimism, success, positive attitude and being happy. I would practice on my way to work by looking at the world around me and finding something to be amazed at. Later I practiced imagining and detailing my favorite retirement dream of painting and writing. I always felt better. Finding things to be grateful for, was another way.

    Choose the positive thought. The mind can be tricky. You can’t stop thinking negatively, worrying, or being in fear. But you can choose to turn your focus to something else. When you successfully shift your focus, make sure you appreciate yourself (later) for having chosen well. Appreciation of your success will serve in implementing the secret of optimism, success, positive attitude and being happy.

    Savor the happy well being that comes from practicing the secret of optimism, success, positive attitude and being happy. I didn’t have much practice in savoring. It is so delicious to savor. It’s like being the dog riding with his head out the car window.


    Repeat the Process time and again
    . Whenever you find yourself thinking another negative thought, reach for a better feeling thought from your Happy Stockpile. Repeating is a necessary tool in the secret of optimism, success, positive attitude and being happy.


    Practice this process for 30 days
    and your will have made a habit of using the secret of optimism, success, positive attitude and being happy.

Success, Optimism, Confidence, and Happy(iness) is a State of Mind.

    Happy (iness) is a state of mind.

    Confidence is a state of mind.

    Courage is a state of mind.

    Optimism is a state of mind.

    Success is a state of mind.

    Pessimism is a state of mind.

    Fulfillment is a state of mind.

    Joy is a state of being.

The Art of Happiness by the Dalai Lama basically says that the purpose of life is to be happy. Ask and It is Given says that the purpose of our life is to have joy and be a part of the stream of wellbeing. I saw a quote by Abraham Lincoln in Julia Cameron’s Finding Water, the Art of Perseverance. Most folks are about as happy as they make their minds up to be. To have success, is to be happy, have confidence, courage and optimism.

If it is all dependent only on one thing, a state of mind, why would we not do everything in our power to make our state of mind the most important element in our life? Why do we not reach for all the happy (iness), confidence, optimism, joy, success that we can?

If the simple secret of success and prosperity is to have a certain state of mind so that we can have every good thing in life; health, wealth, wisdom, good friends, and the means to do what we love, why is it that we are not all absolutely committed, clamoring for, and persevering for that state of mind that yields to us that which we wish? Why not have the confidence and courage to reach for optimism, joy, success and prosperity?

What we look for is what we find. We will successfully find whatever that is. Abraham Lincoln said “If you look for the bad in people expecting to find it, you surely will.”

What we focus on is what we get more of. If we want to be happy, we need to focus on being happy, or on times we were happy, or on things that make us happy. When we are happy, we will feel more confident, more courage, and more success.

If we want to feel more confidence, we need to focus on having confidence, or remember the times we had confidence, or do 17 seconds on bringing more confidence into our vibration at this moment. When we have confidence, we are happy.

If we want more courage in our life, we need to focus on the places in our lives where we do have courage. Acknowledge the courage we do have, acknowledge our intent for more courage. Remember how courage has served us in the past. When we have confidence, it is easier to have courage. When we have courage we are happy.

If we want more financial success in our lives, we need to see how financially successful we are at this moment. We need to visualize our financial success even greater in the future.

Optimism is a natural state when we are happy, feel success, have confidence, or use courage. We can increase our optimism by have the intention to have more optimism. With optimism, we will feel more happy, have more confidence, and feel success.

The Secret Key # 3 to Law of Success according to Napoleon Hill is to assemble an Attractive Personality. There are many aspects of an attractive personality, and when one aspect is enhanced, the others are often enhanced. Many people want to assert that they are who they are; and others need to accept them as they are.

That is a fine sentiment. The Secret; the truth is, we are all very multi-faceted. We all have many different aspects to who we are. Using the Law of Success, We can choose what aspects of ourselves we want to enhance. Many of us use the excuse “I am who I am” simply to justify staying in our habitual frame of reference. If that happens to be crabby place, or pessimistic; ‘oh well, that’s just who I am.’ The Law of Success does not say, ok, I can be pessimistic and succeed.

When you encounter people who use the Law of Success in the outer world how do you feel? Would you want to place your business with a doctor who is pessimist, or an accountant, or an alternative healer? Do you want to have a boss who is crabby or a pessimist? The Secret Key to the Law of Success is that most everyone prefers to work with someone who is upbeat, positive, optimistic, and who is pleasant to deal with.

The secret is Pessimism is a habit. The secret is Crabbiness is a habit. The secret is Optimism is a habit. Each of those characteristics is a choice that we each make every moment, every day. The Law of Success asks us to give the best of ourselves. The alternative is we default to the habit of thinking and acting as we have been raised to do. It is your choice. The secret is YOU get to choose the characteristics in your self you want to enhance. Part of the secret is The Law of Success and the Law of Attraction will bring back to you whatever you are putting out into the world.

If you prefer working with people who have attractive personalities, chances are the rest of the world would prefer to work with you more if your personality is attractive, compelling and desirable to be around. These people embody the Law of Success. That’s part of the secret. That is just how the Law of Success works.

Part of the secret of the Law of Success, assembling an attractive personality requires a good bit of work on your part. You bet it does; particularly if you have some unappealing personality characteristics. The Secret to the Law of Success requires effort on your part. It is what you are giving to the world. What you put out is what you receive.

We are living in times when people are more stressed than ever. Opposite the Law of Success, most people drop into their most unappealing personality the more tired, the more stressed, and the more they find themselves in a survival mode. Resilience doesn’t seem to be very high for many people. This makes it all the more important for you to abide by The Secret to the Law of Success.

Law of Success would show this is all the more reason we need to focus on our choice of what personality qualities we wish to show. It is harder to get along in the world in general. In specific, the law of attraction still is powerful. The more optimistic and appealing you are and act, the more you will be around optimistic and appealing people – the secret to the Law of Success.

Here’s another secret. In the long run, it can be a very selfish thing to do - become positive and upbeat - because doing so begets success. It draws to you wonderful upbeat people. Assembling an attractive personality, part of the secret key of the Law of Success; enhances your ability to do what you want to do, people will be drawn to you and will want to buy from you whatever it is you are selling.

So it is your choice. The secret is: What you put out into the world is what you draw back from the world, simple law of attraction methodology. Choose whether you wish to implement the secret key to the Law of Success; assemble an attractive personality. You can be the same old habitual you with same old, same old attitudes and behaviors. Or you can choose to slant your attitude and behaviors more in alignment with how you want to be treated, therefore becoming a more attractive person.

Most of us have an idea this is true, but many people simply do not understand that your state of mind is a choice that you can make, no matter what situation you are in. Your state of mind can be positive. Your state of mind can be negative. Your state of mind can be affected very much by circumstances happening in your world, yes. Napoleon Hill said “A positive mental attitude is the single most important principle of the science of success. You will depend upon it in everything you do. You cannot get the maximum benefit out of the other sixteen principles without understanding and employing PMA (positive mental attitude).”

If building a positive mental attitude is the single most important, the secret key to Law of Success, what do you think is necessary to build a positive mental attitude? Develop Controlled Enthusiasm

The Secret key to Law of Success #8 is to develop controlled enthusiasm. Enthusiasm is to success and positive mental attitude like gasoline is to an engine. In today’s market where fuel prices have skyrocketed, we are tending to make more conscious choices of how we use that fuel. We want to use enthusiasm in a way that supports Law of Success.

Napoleon Hill says “In working with your PMA (positive mental attitude), you will learn to control your mind. The same control can be used on your enthusiasm, so that it is continually fed into the cylinders of your mental engine, where it is ignited by the spark of your definite purpose and explodes, pushing the pistons of applied faith and personal initiative.” The secret key to Law of Success is to develop enthusiasm to support your purpose and action plan.

Enthusiasm is power. It is contagious. It with faith has the power to transmute your feelings of adversity into action that move you to success. As you develop your power of enthusiasm, you also develop your positive mental attitude. Enthusiasm acts on our subconscious mind the same way as positive mental attitude. It fills it with images, desires, and plans for success. It is part of what fuels the Law of Success.

Optimism, positive attitudes and positive thinking are fundamental to the laws of Success. My ex-husband used to tell me that I always looked at the doughnut and not the hole. Oops. I made a Freudian slip. He always said that I looked at the hole and not the doughnut. That I reversed it as I wrote tells me how much I have changed. That’s exciting. Today, let’s look at the benefits of optimism and the laws of success.

Can Optimism, positive thinking, and positive attitude be learned? From my own experience, and my own demonstration in the first paragraph; the answer is YES. It can be learned. It is true that optimism can be predisposed; a fancy way of saying it is inherited. Research scientists are reporting that it can be taught and learned by children who are at high risk (another fancy way of saying that the children are probably depressed, unhappy and pessimistic).

OPTIMISM, POSITIVE ATTITUDE AND POSITIVE THINKING RESEARCH

It helps me to have positive thinking and optimism and a positive attitude, but I really feel convinced and happy when what I believe and feel are proven by research. I always believed I could be happy and successful and prosperous, but I was lit by fire when I read The Millionaire Mind and found that millionaires who are very successful had the same fears, doubts and concerns that I have. They too have to deal with criticism and maintaining persistence in the face of failure – keep on keeping on. These facts verified that I’m not so different. If they can do it, I can do it. You can do it.

Shortly after I read about the Laws of Attraction, I was sharing it with someone I thought was very positive. She looked at me with disdain and said “Is that all it is – positive thinking?” Obviously optimism, positive thinking and positive attitude have taken a bad rap.

So I am here to tell you that optimism, positive thinking and a positive attitude can extend your life span significantly. It has been proven.

Optimism creates people who are happy, successful, and healthy. Research of 99 Harvard graduates over a 35 year period indicates that graduates who had optimism and positive thinking and positive attitudes were significantly healthier and longer lived than pessimists.

Persistence is a by product of Optimism, positive attitude and positive thinking. People who are optimistic, have a positive attitude, and think positive don’t give up as easily as pessimists. To actively use the laws of success, it is important to keep on regardless.

Children in one study and adults in another study who were given optimism training learned how to think in a positive manner. Even years after the training, they could solve problems better. They had better emotional health as a result of optimism, positive attitude and positive thinking than pessimists.

Greater Achievement was accomplished by both individual players and sport teams who had optimism, positive attitude and positive thinking; than those who were pessimistic.

Optimism, positive thinking and positive attitudes help people believe in themselves and have less stress. Millionaires believe in themselves. It is easier to cooperate with the laws of success when you believe in yourself.

Optimism, positive thinking and a positive attitude delivers the benefits of a longer life span, greater health, persistence, better achievement, less stress, and the belief in self. Why would anyone want to not have optimism, positive thinking, and a positive attitude? Optimists’ success secrets are necessary for success. You have just been given a salary increase. You have found a great apartment. Your house sold. What do you say to yourself and others? What you think, how you think and what you say are fundamental success secrets. Optimists have proven to be more productive and successful. Pessimists prove their world view time after time. The Success Secret that Optimists have is how they think about themselves. They believe the problems are not caused by them; that this is temporary; and this problem does not affect every part of their life.

Pessimists think about their problems absolutely differently.

    Pessimists believe their problems are permanent and will be there in the future.
    Pessimists believe their problems are their fault.
    Pessimists believe their problems will affect most every part of their day to day life.

The impaired success secret Pessimists have is how they think about themselves. They see themselves at fault, believing that this will continue to be the way things are, and this state is affecting everything in their life.

Positive Events: Optimist Success Secrets

Optimists look at positive events in a certain way.

    Optimists believe positive events like promotions happen because of themselves and what they do and what they contribute.
    Optimists believe the positive events are a sign that more positive things will come.
    Optimist look forward to more positive things to come because they believe what they do contributes to a positive result. (They believe they have some control on the outcome).

The success secrets of optimists are they can see their strengths, know that those strengths and talents contribute to positive outcomes.


Pessimists look at positive events in a certain way

    Pessimists believe that positive things that happen to them are a lucky or freak accident.
    Pessimists believe that positive things that happen to them are flukes, and probably won’t happen to them again. (Expectation)
    Pessimists believe that positive things that happen are outside their control.

Pessimists are success impaired. Pessimists believe nothing they did created a positive result ((losing access to the success secret).

The success secrets of optimism is that optimist see a positive cause and effect between what they do and positive results. They actively look for what created the success.

Another success secret is Belief in Self. Positive events confirm an optimist’s belief in themselves. They believe good things will happen now and in the future. Positive events confirm an optimist’s belief in life.

Pessimists believe that positive things are just lucky, that nothing they did helped create the positive event now, and therefore they don’t expect more good things now or in the future (losing access to the success secret).

Impaired success of pessimists is that they believe they always cause bad things to happen (losing access to the success secret).

Negative Events: Optimist Success Secrets

When the toilet breaks or the car won’t start; Optimists look at positive events very differently than pessimists.

    Optimists believe negative events that happen are a fluke and are not a result of what they did. They don’t believe negative events will affect all areas of their life. They contain their thoughts about what happened. (They keep their thoughts ‘local’ or ‘specific’ to this particular event),
    Optimists believe the negative events are not their fault.
    Optimists believe that negative events have nothing to do with their future.

Optimism success secrets are that optimists don’t cast blame on themselves or others. A person is not “the cause.”

Pessimists look at negative events in ways that hurts themselves. When the toilet breaks, the car won’t start, or they get passed over for a promotion, their thoughts are diametrically opposed to optimist ways of thinking.

    Pessimists believe negative events are caused by them.
    Pessimists believe because the negative events or mistakes are their fault that more mistakes will follow in the future.
    Pessimists believe that more negative events and mistakes will happen in all areas of their life because they cause them. They globalize one event to their entire life. Therapists call this globalized thinking. The toilet broke and the car battery died because “I just do stupid things”. I must have leaned too much on the toilet top. I must have left some light on in the car that caused the battery to die.

Pessimists are Success-Impaired. They don’t have access to success secrets.

Another Optimist’s Success Secret is that optimists let negative events roll off themselves. They contain thoughts about this negative event to now and limit its effect to just a small area of their life. The toilet breaking is not going to affect their marriage.

Success-Impaired Pessimists believe they are wrong (losing access to the success secret). They believe they will always make more mistakes. They globalize being wrong, to now and to the future, and to all areas of their lives. They may even think that something is wrong with them.

This is what the researchers have been able to define. I believe that optimists think in terms of what I DO. Pessimists make it about WHO I AM.

Optimist’s success secret is that they tell a positive story to themselves and to others about the things that happen in their lives.

Pessimists impair their success (losing access to the success secret) by telling a negative story to themselves and to others. Often pessimists sound like victims. The universe and the world along with themselves have conspired to serve up awful life happenings.

Optimists have formula; a success secret. Here are seven Success Secrets.


SUCCESS SECRETS OF OPTIMISTS

    Optimist Success Secret 1: Optimists see problems as temporary not permanent. Things will continue to change.

    Optimist Success Secret 2: Optimists contain problems. Problems do not color their whole life when they happen (kept contained to and only affect a small area of their life).

    Optimist Success Secret 3: Optimists look at problems as just a challenge to solve. They are caused by external situations not by a person.

    Optimist Success Secret 4. Optimists actively look to see what attributes in themselves contributed to a positive outcome (ex. they got their job promotion was because they are so persistent and methodical). They actively look for their strengths.

    Optimist Success Secret 5: Optimists actively look for what situations cause the problem and don’t see a person as the cause.

    Optimist Success Secret 6: Optimists tell themselves positive stories about themselves (self talk). Optimists tell positive stories to others about what is happening in their lives.

    Optimist Success Secret 7: Optimists look forward to success in the future. Positive events are signs that more success is on its way. Therefore they expect more success.

“Success, Optimism and Self Confidence”

Success, optimism and self confidence
are tied together tightly. Increase one of these three and the other two will also increase. A couple of days ago, while visiting my brother, my car wouldn’t start. I had just bought new batteries while visiting Texas. My first thought was “I must have left on a light inside the car while I was packing it the day before.” I didn’t even look under the hood. I just went looking for the jumper cables.

My brother opened the hood and said “Here’s your problem. The cable was loose on the battery post. The whole experience was great learning. I’m writing about learning optimism, and got to see first hand what my first thoughts were. My self confidence got boosted, and I felt successful as I reflected on my thought pattern.

I did realize it was only temporary. I could jump my car. I contained the issue to just those few minutes and future trips. While I assumed I contributed to this situation, I didn’t beat myself up with negative self talk. It was all over and done with in five minutes. That is very different than how it would have been five years ago. It was an opportunity to evaluate my own thoughts for optimism, self confidence and success.

How do you feel and what do you think when you someone says “well done?” What goes through your mind when you’ve bought a new couch, gotten a promotion, or when your beloved says “I love you?” Do you feel self confidence, optimism and success or do you wonder when the other shoe will drop.

People who are successful have self confidence. They believe in themselves. They have optimism. They talk to themselves positively.

In Optimists’ Success Secrets, we looked at the thinking patterns of optimism and pessimism. These thinking patterns were outlined by researchers who were working with school children to see if optimism is learnable. Trainers worked with children who were depressed, low self confidence and little success in school for twelve weeks.

They taught the children to not blame themselves, to realize that feelings are temporary, and to contain their thinking about one problem to just one small area of their life. The children learned success, optimism and self confidence. When tested two years later, these same children had retained what they learned and were able to problem solve because they had learned a different way to think using the four cornerstones to optimism, self confidence, and success..

If you change the way you talk to yourself (and to others) you can change how you feel and act. You will have more success, optimism and self confidence. So let‘s take an example. This morning you found that your car won’t start. What do you think?

If you immediately think you must have left on a light in the car and therefore are at fault, you lose problem-solving capabilities. What if the problem is a loose battery connection? Let’s look at a few thoughts to use instead that will help build self confidence, enhance optimism and success.

In the beginning you might have to re route old thinking by making statements around the three things that optimists do. People who have optimism, success and self confidence talk to themselves that:

    1. The problem is outside of self. This is a situation.
    2. It is temporary. It does not predict the future.
    3. The problem does not affect every part of my life.

Self talk (what you think to yourself) has a huge impact on your optimism and self confidence. For more optimism, you could successfully think:

    “This is a situation. It is outside me.”
    “My car is not starting NOW. This is not permanent. It is temporary”
    “My whole life does not revolve around my car starting now.”
    “I probably am not going to lose my job because my car isn’t starting.
    “Now I can begin to figure out what to do next.”

A pessimistic pattern weakens your self confidence and undermines optimism and success. When you are not thinking the thought patterns of pessimists, you have more mind capacity to use. You are not focused inside on who is at fault or asking why this always happens. This frees up energy to figure out what to do. You might be able to think something like:

    “I can focus on fixing the problem.
    “I wonder what’s causing this car not to start.
    “Who could help me this morning?”
    “What do I need to do about getting to work?
    “Who can I call at work to let them know I might be late?

To review, success optimism and self confidence are intertwined. The more optimism you generate, the more self confidence you feel. The more self confidence you have, the more success you will have. For quotes on positive attitude go here.

Here are THE FOUR CORNERSTONES of the thought patterns for optimism, self confidence and success.


HAVE NO FAULT THOUGHTS

If your thoughts are consumed with who is at fault – either yourself or someone else, your creativeness is gobbled up with feelings that result from fault finding. When you reframe the negative event as “just a situation that is temporary” your mind is freed up to look for solutions. If you constantly are thinking that it is your fault, it undermines your self confidence. If you look for someone else who is at fault, again your mind is tied up by emotions that will not support optimism, self confidence and therefore success.

From a law of attraction perspective, if you focus on the negative things, you draw more negative things to yourself. Once I get on a roll of a series of what I see as negative thoughts, I can guarantee that perhaps even within the hour, more negative events will occur. It happens very quickly. I laugh at it now and try to see how soon I can switch out of those thoughts, because I don’t want any more “car issues” for example. Since I prefer “positive events; the law of attraction is great motivation to have better self confidence, more optimism, and reap success.

IDENTIFY IT AS A SITUATION. In work environments it is much more helpful to look for a problem with the system, than look for the problem with a person. Your employees will be far more productive, more self confidence and be more successful, if you are looking at the issues, not the people. You’ll feel better too. It just off loads some of the emotions that gunk up our thinking works.


THIS WILL PASS. IT IS TEMPORARY
. This situation does not predict the future. To have optimism, success, and self confidence, I need to contain the problem to now.


THIS IS ONLY A SMALL PIECE OF THE PUZZLE.
Any issue is only a small slice of the whole pie. To have optimism, success, and self confidence, I need to contain the problem to a small area of my life.

Write these four cornerstones of optimism, self confidence and success thinking on a 3 x 5 card and carry it with you. When an event is happening in your life and it doesn’t feel good, remind yourself:

    HAVE NO FAULT THOUGHTS
    IDENTIFY IT AS A SITUATION
    THIS WILL PASS
    THIS IS ONLY A SMALL PIECE OF THE PUZZLE

This will give you enough perspective to reframe your thoughts. If you can do this for just thirty days, you will find you have more optimism, self confidence and success.

State of Mind State of Being

Fundamental to the Law of Attraction and to the Law of Success is one’s state. It makes sense that you have different emotional states. When you are depressed, it feels very different than when you are happy. The experience of despair is quite opposite the state of vibrant expectancy of something good happening.

We each have the experience of many differing states. Each of those states has a different frequency. When you are optimistic, you are more likely to encounter others who are optimistic. When you are feeling victimized, you are apt to run into others who will be delighted to help you stay in that state. Like attracts like.

It is helpful is to know that these emotional states have a scale. Knowing the scale allows us to make movement in very tiny steps up the scale. We may not be able to move from depression to joy in one step, but we can move from depression to insecurity to anger. And from anger we can move to discouragement to doubt to overwhelment, frustration, pessimism, to boredom. From boredom, it is pretty simple to reach for contentment, even hope, then optimism, and eventually the expectancy of good things, eagerness, and happiness is not too far away. Throughout these posts we have said that Faith is a state of mind. Optimism is a state of mind. Happiness is a state of Mind. Success is a state of mind. We habitually hang out in the state that is “normal” for us. A “state” is a frequency, a band of energy, a way of thinking, a state of consciousness, a vibratory frequency, a way of being if you will.

Scarcity consciousness is a state of being or a state of mind. Wealth consciousness is a state of being or a state of mind. They carry very different thoughts, beliefs, and therefore send out very differing vibratory frequencies – they send out very different energies.

Think of it this way. How do you respond when you are around someone who is pessimistic, and tell stories about their lives that portray themselves as the victim of poor luck? How do you respond when you spend time with someone who is upbeat, optimistic about a new project, who is looking forward to what happens next and believes that the make their own luck. You are responding to the “state” of the person. You are responding to the vibratory energy that is being emitted by that state. You are responding to their state of being.

If you have a visceral response to these states, doesn’t it make sense that the Universe and other people also have responses to these states? If you are in a victim state, you may feel some resonance with that person yourself. If you are tired of feeling like a victim, you may be repelled by seeing the victim state of being in another person. If you are in a victim state, you may be irritated by an exuberant person who is looking at the world with hope and expectancy.

Lots of people talk about states of consciousness. You need this to be real to you in language and terms that mean something specific to you.

Your state is absolutely all important to your getting what you want and need, whether it is success in love relationships, money, new jobs, fulfillment, hobbies, friendships, athletics, or spiritual development.

Recognizing that you have different state of awareness or beingness, or consciousness, or states of emotions, or states of mind – whatever fits for you – is essential. When you recognize that you have different states you have more options. You can accept that these are all you – without judgment, and again you have more options.

When you begin to recognize which state you are in, you can begin to make choices about whether or not you want to continue in that state. Each state has tell tale signs. When I get really irritable and grouchy and want to lash out, I know that my victim state has taken command and that I really am irritated with the Universe (actually myself).

If I remember soon enough, I will be grateful that I am in an irritable state, because I have far more energy available than when I am depressed, because it is higher up on the emotional scale. When I am irritated I have more capacity for movement.

Then I do some tapping (EFT) or some prayer or some meditation, or some journaling, or any other numerous ways to move from that state to one where I am happier and more able to relax into the state of being of my choice.
