The Secret Key to the Law of Success is that your State of Mind is the most important thing in life. Everything is keyed into your state of mind. Your state of mind is absolutely THE KEY to making your life work. The secret key to the Law of Success is your state of mind. Most of us have an idea this is true, but many people simply do not understand that your state of mind is a choice that you can make, no matter what situation you are in. Choice is a critical function to using the secret key to the Law of Success.

Your state of mind can be positive. Your state of mind can be negative. Your state of mind can be affected very much by circumstances happening in your world, yes. However YOU CAN CHOOSE a state of mind that is positive, no matter what circumstances are occurring. You can choose a state of mind that will bring you abundance, no matter what your financial state is. You can choose! This element of choice is critical to using the secret key to the Law of Success.

Your state of mind is affected by your emotions. Emotions are messengers from our body and mind to let us know what we are experiencing. If you are not feeling happy, or joyful, most likely you have shifted your state of mind. You can feel happy and joyful no matter how ill you are, no matter how uncomfortable your body is, no matter what other people are saying to you or about you, and no matter whether or not you have food on your table. I didn’t say it is easy. It is simple however. It is possible to use the secret key to your use of the Law of Success. Utilizing your emotions is another secret key to using the Law of Success.

Emotions are powerful, and can help you shift states of mind. Your state of mind is your secret key to unlocking the Law of Success and the law of attraction. Your state of mind unlocks your health, abundance, and wisdom. Your state of mind is essential to using the Law of Success. It is THE SECRET.

The Secret Key to the Law of Success has the fourth principle of using your applied Faith. Primary to this success secret is faith is a state of mind. This state of mind develops by repeatedly opening your mind to receive from the Infinite, God, Source, the Universe, and your higher Power. The Law of Success functions by the success secret of repeatedly allowing your mind receive Infinite Intelligence.

Napoleon Hill says that when we use applied faith, you temporarily relax your mind, reason, and will power and ‘open to the inflow of Infinite Intelligence.’ The secret is when you open your receptivity to the flow of energy from Source; you are opening to the power of Infinite Intelligence, and your state of mind and being change. The success secrets of the Law of Success is that the more we open our mind and heart to God, Infinite Intelligence, the more the universe will cooperate with you.

Whatever your mind can conceive and believe, it can achieve. Believing is the secret key to the Law of Success. All success secrets are based on this quote by Napoleon Hill.

When the flow of energy from the Infinite flows through your mind, it passes by and through restrictions of beliefs. In these success secrets the metaphor of a prism is helpful when thinking of the energy from Source flowing through your mind. When that powerful flow hits beliefs in your mind such as ‘you cannot succeed’; ‘you are not worthy’; ‘others stand in your way;’ then the energy is distorted and scattered. Success secrets teach you ways to clear your mind of these blocks. The secret is to keep your mind open, receptive and in contact with your Source. The Law of Success functions side by side with the Law of Attraction.

Most importantly, if you close yourself off from the flow of source by not believing in God, Source, The Universe, Creator, you disconnect from your power source, and will not benefit very easily from the application of success secrets of using the Law of Success. Remain open is the secret.

Napoleon Hill said that to be able to use the law of success, your must cultivate faith as a state of mind. The success secrets of the centuries all point to the Law of Success having a strong foundation in prayer and connection with Infinite Intelligence. The secret to cultivating such a state of mind is to set aside a portion of each day to contemplate the Divine.

Hill suggested that we set aside an hour a day to contemplate your relationship to your God, the divine intelligence. You need to look for signs in your life of where Infinite Intelligence has manifested.

His success secret includes a ritual to help you build faith and act with faith. Clear your thoughts of negative thoughts – such as want, poverty, ill health. When you clear your mind, and you find that many paths open to you. See the post on Looking for signs.

2. Create a specific plan for attaining what you want
3. Start acting on that plan. Put all conscious effort behind it.
4. Ask for signs, look for signs that the Universe is behind you.

The more you act with faith, the more the universe will open and fund you with its power. The more you see that power working, the easier it will be for you to act on faith. If you fill these prayers with gratitude for what you have already, the sooner you will have results.

Practice prayer every day. That will maximize the secret key to the Law of Success.

Vibration, the Law of Success and the Law of Attraction are powerful principles described by Napoleon Hill. In the last two posts we have looked at the Subconscious mind and Faith. Napoleon Hill believes that the subconscious mind provides a link with Infinite Intelligence and all other minds (Law of Attraction). But to see how the subconscious mind communicates with the Infinite Intelligence is important. Here is how Napoleon describes the dynamic behind the Law of Success which is also known as the Law of Attraction.

“Comes now a very significant statement of truth:

THOUGHTS WHICH ARE MIXED WITH ANY OF THE FEELINGS OF EMOTIONS, CONSTITUTE A ‘MAGNETIC’ FORCE WHICH ATTRACTS, FROM THE VIBRATIONS OF THE ETHER, OTHER SIMILAR, OR RELATED THOUGHTS. A thought thus “magnetized” with emotion may be compared to a seed which, when planted in fertile soil, germinates, grows, and multiplies itself over and over again, until that which was originally one small seed, becomes countless millions of seeds of the SAME BRAND!” (p.72) (Law of Attraction)

This description by Hill of the law of attraction which is essential to the Law of Success was written in the late 1930’s and edited out of many editions of Think and Grow Rich. Editors did not believe that the mass public would want to hear about vibrations and ether. These same principles were edited out of The Secret. Law of Attraction and Law of Success are based upon the same principles.

“The ether is a great cosmic mass of eternal forces of vibration. It is made up of both destructive vibrations and constructive vibrations. It carries at all times, vibrations of fear, poverty, disease, failure, misery; and vibrations of prosperity, health, success, and happiness, just as surely as it carries the sound of hundreds of orchestrations of music, and hundreds of human voices, all of which maintain their own individuality, and means of identification through the medium of radio.” (Law of attraction)

“From the great storehouse of the ether, the human mind is constantly attracting vibrations which harmonize with that which DOMINATES the human mind. Any thought, idea, plan, or purpose which one holds in one’s mind attracts, from the vibrations of the ether, a host of its relatives, adds these ‘relatives’ to its own force, and grows until it becomes the dominating, MOTIVATING MASTER of the individual in whose mind it has been housed.” (Law of Success)

Essentially Napoleon Hill is saying the same as the Law of Attraction. Like attracts like. If you hold prosperous thoughts, you will attract prosperity. If you hold scarcity thoughts as your dominant vibration, you attract scarcity. Law of Success is built around this magnetic principle. Positive thinking is not the purpose of the Law of Success. Holding positive thoughts are the necessity to attract more positive results – which is the main theorem in Law of Attraction.

In the chapter on the Subconscious Mind, Napoleon Hill once more speaks of how the Law of Attraction and the Law of Success works. He says:

“less than a hundred years ago, men believed the space between the planets to be nothing but a great void, a stretch of dead nothingness. Now thanks to this same power of FAITH, men know that far from being either dead or a void, the space between the planets is very much alive, that it is the highest form of vibration known, excepting, perhaps the vibrations of THOUGHT. Moreover, men know that this living, pulsating, vibratory energy which permeates every atom of
matter, and fills every niche of space, connects every human brain with every other human brain.” (Law of Attraction)

Hill is saying the same thing Wattles says in the Science of Getting Rich. The Law of Attraction and Law of Success are based on vibration and an intelligent universe. Both men outline the principles as they understood them in the 20’s and 30’s.

All matter is energy (Einstein). All matter is vibration. Source is in every particle. Source is Intelligent. Source hears our prayers and our thoughts. Vibration is drawn to like vibration. The reason Law of Success and Law of Attraction works, is that Source is connected to all. Source sends back ideas, and intuitions. Source can arrange coincidences and serendipity for people to meet or have like mind.

“What reason have men to believe that this same energy does not connect every human brain with Infinite Intelligence?” (Law of Success, Law of Attraction)

“There are no toll-gates between the finite mind of man and Infinite Intelligence. The communication costs nothing except Patience, Faith, Persistence, Understanding, and a SINCERE DESIRE to communicate…..” (Law of Success, Law of Attraction)

“The method by which you may communicate with Infinite Intelligence is very similar to that through which the vibration of sound is communicated by radio. If you understand the working principle of radio, you of course, know that sound cannot be communicated through the ether until it has been “stepped up,” or changed into a rate of vibration which the human ear cannot detect. The radio sending station picks up the sound of the human voice, and “scrambles,” or modifies it by stepping up the vibration millions of times. Only in this way, can the vibration of sound be communicated through the ether. After this transformation has taken place, the ether “picks up” the energy (which originally was in the form of vibrations or sound), carries that energy to radio receiving stations and these receiving sets “step” that energy back down to its original rate of vibration so it is recognized as sound.” (Law of Success, Law of Attraction)

The Law of Attraction and Law of Success are based on vibration. In Hill’s model, the subconscious is our “Radio station.” What is being broadcast out of the subconscious is very important. Old beliefs and repetitive thinking go into the subconscious. Some strategies will be talked about in future posts (EFT or Tapping). Where we put our attention is what we draw to us. This is a fundamental principal of Law of Attraction and Law of Success. If we focus on how little money we have then we attract more lack of money. This is a crucial factor in Law of Attraction and Law of Success. This understanding of the Law of Attraction and the Law of Success is extraordinarily important right now. Today. When everywhere we look and hear messages about the economy we are influenced by other’s thoughts and perceptions. If our focus is on “what is” – the slow down, the recession - then it is a guarantee that more of the same will happen. The Law of Attraction guarantees that if the national public focuses on a depression, it will happen.

As we are all influenced greatly by what is being said around us, it is paramount to understand this principle of the Law of Attraction and the Law of Success. What to do? Read the section under strategies. Practice imagining having what you do want, and what it will be like when it arrives. The Law of Attraction listens to the Subconscious. If you are imagining – and that is the only way to get those thoughts into the Subconscious – what you desire, then you are vibrating differently than when you are focused on lack. The Law of Success places much emphasis on optimism – which is a vibratory frequency more in alignment with Success.

But let’s go back to Napoleon Hill who wrote Think and Grow Rich as a direct answer for people who were coming out of the Great Depression. He took great pains to delineate the Law of Success and Law of Attraction to help that generation who were lost in fear.

“The subconscious mind is the intermediary, which translates one’s prayers into terms which infinite Intelligence can recognize, presents the message, and brings back the answer in the form of a definite plan or idea for procuring the object of prayer. ….Before your prayer will reach Infinite Intelligence,…it probably is transformed from its original thought vibration into terms of spiritual vibration. Faith is the only known agency which will give your thoughts a spiritual nature.” (Law of Success, Law of Attraction)

To summarize the past few posts to more fully understand the Law of Success and the Law of Attraction:

The subconscious is our connecting Link with Infinite Intelligence.
The subconscious mind is fed by habit.
You can consciously “feed” the subconscious with thoughts mixed with
Faith, Burning Desire, Powerful emotions, Imagination.
These ideas can be submitted to the subconscious only through Imagination.
Prayers are this kind of “conscious feeding”
The state you are in when you pray determines the result.
Pray with Faith and Expectancy. (Ask and it is Given)
Imagine that you already in possession of that which you desire.
Thoughts and Images are things.
The Universe arranges itself around you based on your vibration.
If you vibrate scarcity and poverty – you get more of it.
If you vibrate abundance and plenty – you get more of it.
What you focus upon is what you attract to yourself magnetically.
Every particle of the Universe is intelligent.
Einstein says the most important question there is:
Is the Universe friendly or not?

You get to pick. What kind of life do you want to have? I focused on poverty and lack most of my life. I decided that I had had enough. The Universe definitely provided me what I had been focusing on and the stories I had been telling myself and others. I much prefer feeding myself images created in the 17 second process – a strategy from the Law of Attraction and the Law of Success.

The Law of Success and the Law of Attraction want you to have what you want. The Universe will provide it to you as you imagine it to be. You get to apply a little will power and choice to what you think about. The Universe is waiting for you to apply the Law of Success and the Law of Attraction in whatever way you wish.

Prayer, Faith and the Law of Success and the Law of Attraction are interrelated. In his writings about the Law of Success Napoleon Hill says that the subconscious mind is the connecting point with the divine. When we mix Faith and emotion with our thought and imagination, it is taken by the subconscious mind and converted into a message (prayer) that can be received and acted upon by Source. When we imagine our prayers answered, we are telling our subconscious mind that we hold faith and expectancy that our prayers will be answered. It in turns communicates with Source, and the universe begins to respond in kind. That is how the Law of Success works. That is how the Law of Attraction works. Listen to the words of Napoleon Hill from Think and Grow Rich - one of his premier books on the Law of Success.

“Faith is the head chemist of the mind. When FAITH is blended with the vibration of thought, the subconscious mind instantly picks up the vibration, translates it into its spiritual equivalent, and transmits it to Infinite Intelligences, as in the case of Prayer.”

“The emotions of FAITH, LOVE, and SEX are the most powerful of all the major positive emotions. When the three are blended, they have the effect of “coloring” the vibration of thought in such a way that it instantly reaches the subconscious mind, where it is changed into its spiritual equivalent, the only form that induces a response from Infinite Intelligence.

“Love and faith are psychic; related to the spiritual side of man. Sex is purely biological, and related only to the physical. The mixing, or blending of these three emotions has the effect of opening a direct line of communication between the finite, thinking mind of man, and Infinite Intelligence.” Is this not prayer? Prayer, Faith and Belief we defined differently in Law of Success.

Faith is a state of mind that you develop over time. Desire – especially a burning desire – can be the passion that you can blend with your thought until you have developed Faith. Then we use our imagination to imagine it accomplished, and the subconscious and the universe will not differentiate between what is real and what is imagined. Faith, Prayer, Imagination, Desire are absolute key components to the Law of Success and the Law of Attraction. Hill says. “You may benefit by passing on to your subconscious mind, any DESIRE which you wish translated into its physical or monetary equivalent, in a state of expectancy or BELIEF that the transmutation will actually take place. Your BELIEF, or FAITH, is the element which determines the action of your subconscious mind.”

The Law of Success goes on to say (via Napoleon Hill) “conduct yourself just as you would, if you were ALREADY IN POSSESSION OF THE MATERIAL THING WHICH YOU ARE DEMANDING.” In prayer, you must ask and believe it is given.

In the 17 second technique, you imagine what you want as having been accomplished. You see it in as many ways as possible. By doing this imagination technique, you are developing faith, expectancy, and you are delivering to your subconscious mind the images of what you want. This technique is a form of prayer.

Law of Success stresses burning desire, faith, expectancy that it will happen, and the use of your imagination as the way to impress upon your subconscious that which you want to have or be. When you fervently, with passion, communicate this way, you are intentionally communicating via prayer with the Universe, which will deliver back to you that which you ask. Pray with faith and expectancy. Your prayer will be answered. Law of Success and Law of Attraction demand it. Cultivating Faith as your state of Mind is part of The Secret Law of Success # 4B.
Tune into the Infinite to develop your faith.

Faith doesn’t just happen. It needs to be cultivated. As you develop Faith it can be used to develop more Faith which in turn will tune into the Infinite. You tune in.

You are deepening your relationship with Infinite Intelligence. You are deepening your knowing of the indwelling spirit. You tune into the Infinite by fine tuning your receiving ability to hear the small voice. You are strengthening your ability to know through intuition, ideas and hunches. You are cultivating Faith. You are in tune.

To be in tune with the infinite, you need to tune in, adjust your receiving apparatus. Cultivating Faith is a way to tune into Infinite Intelligence. When you are feeling poverty, survival, fear, ill health, or disharmony with other, you are not in tune with the infinite.

As you choose to tune in to the infinite, your vibration changes. As you begin looking for places where the Infinite has operated in your life, your vibration begins to align with that of the Infinite. What you look for you find. You are cultivating Faith. You begin to be in tune as you tune in.

When you look for doubt and skepticism you find it. Both states are possible. Skepticism and doubt and Faith, hope and trust. What state do you want to tune into? Are you cultivating Faith or disbelief? When you are more in the realm of disbelief, you are not in tune. You do not tune in.

As you look for places in your life where Universal Flow and Power has operated, you are adjusting your state of being, your state of Mind to align with the Infinite, you tune in and begin to be in tune.

By asking for signs of the Infinite, and looking for signs of its manifestation, you begin to tune in yourself as though you were a radio dial to be able to feel the vibration of the Infinite Intelligence You are cultivating Faith. You are in tune.

Counting your blessings, praying, contemplating the divine are all ways that you are tuning in. When you pray with thanksgiving and gratitude, you are aligning with that powerful Source of all that is. You are cultivating Faith. You tune in.

Napoleon Hill says

“If you close the window of your mind to the power of Infinite Intelligence through disbelief, you will never experience its benefits.”

Faith opens the window of your mind. Faith opens your experience to the benefits of Infinite Intelligence. You are in tune.

It is very simple. If you tune into disbelief, you cannot tune in vibrationally to the power of the Infinite. All you will hear is static. The Infinite is flowing and operating on a different channel, the antithesis of disbelief. Cultivate Faith so that you can be in tune with the Infinite.

Cultivating Faith is the same as cultivating Optimism, is the same as cultivating a taste for Beauty, Gourmet Food, and exquisite music. You are not going to find a freshly exquisitely prepared organic gourmet meal in a fast food restaurant. You are not going to find the Beethoven’s Fifth Symphony being played by a full orchestra at the county fair. You are not going to find a field of bursting yellow tulips in a recently logged mountain side.

You have to go looking for what you want in an area you might be likely to find it. As you begin looking for it, you are much more likely to find it. You are cultivating Faith. You are in tune, and you tune in.

Simon hesitated and then said…..”I would like our finished product to be their life guide, a beacon of hope perhaps, a set of directions that will guide them through the darkness for the rest of their lives. “

“I would like the readers to be able to digest our entire message quickly, and I would like them to read it every morning, without fail, before commencing their day’s activities. Knowing how difficult things can be in the morning, but also how important one’s first waking hour is, try to write it so that it can be read in six minutes or less. Also be certain they understand that it must be read every morning and that if they do, their lives will eventually change for the better beyond their wildest dreams.”

So were the directions of Simon Potter to Og Mandino in the last few days of his life. They were writing a masterpiece. A book to catch those of us caught in despair and hopelessness. A ten commandments of life as it were. And it went like this.

“For the Rest of My Life. . .

For the rest of my life there are two days that will never again trouble me.

The first day is yesterday with all its blunders and tears, its follies and defeats. Yesterday has passed forever beyond my control.

The other day is tomorrow with its pitfalls and threats, its dangers and mystery. Until the sun rises again, I have no stake in tomorrow for it is still unborn.

With God’s help and only one day to concentrate all my effort and energy on, this day, I CAN WIN! Only when I add the burden of those two frightening eternities, yesterday and tomorrow, am I in danger of faltering under the load. Never again! This is my day! This is my only day! Today is all there is! Today is the rest of my life and I resolve to conduct myself through every waking hour in the following manner. . .

. . . to keep reminding myself that in order to harvest more ears of corn in the fall, I must plant more kernels in the spring.

. . . to understand that life always rewards me on the terms that I establish and if I never perform or deliver more than that for which I am paid, never will I have reason to demand or expect any additional gold.

. . . to always deliver more than is expected of me, whether at work, or play, or at home.

. . . to labor with enthusiasm and love, no matter what the task or hand may be, realizing that if I cannot secure happiness out of my work I will never know what real happiness is.

. . . to endure at my chosen work even after others have ceased their labor, for now I know that the angel of happiness and the pot of gold awaits me only at the end of the extra mile that still lies ahead.


For the rest of my life, this very special day, God help me. . .

. . . to set goals to be accomplished before the day has ended, for now I know that to drift aimlessly from one hour to the next leaves me with only one destination, the port of misery.

. . . to realize that no path to success is too long if I advance bravely and without undue hast, just as there are no honors too distant if I prepare myself for them now with patience.

. . . to never lose faith in a brighter tomorrow, for I know that if I continue to knock long enough and loud enough at the gate, I am certain to arouse someone.

. . . to repeatedly remind myself that success always has its price and that I must be willing to balance its joys and rewards against the precious piece of my life I must always exchange to achieve it.

. . . to hold fast to my dreams and my plans for a better life because if I relinquish them, although I still might exist, I will have ceased to live.

. . . to strive to fulfill the best that is within me, knowing that I have no obligation to attain great wealth or success, only the obligation to be true to the highest and best I can be.

. . . to never succumb to the fear of failing, because now I shall be looking up to the goals I have not yet reached rather than peering down at the pitfalls that always threaten me.

. . . to embrace adversity as a friend who will teach me far more about myself than any joyful run of success and good fortune.

. . . to remember that I must pay the price in time and energy in order to increase my worth, for only fools stand idly by and wait for success to arrive, and now I know that the only chance to start at the top is in digging a hole.


For the rest of my life, on this day of days, God please help me . . .

. . . to do unto others as I would have them do unto me, to give more of myself, every hour, than is expected, to set goals and hold fast to my dreams, to search for the good in every adversity that befalls me, to perform all my duties with enthusiasm, and love and, above all, to be myself.

Simon, the self proclaimed rag-picker, set his life’s goal as helping human’s who found themselves on life’s refuse pile. This message was the distillation of his life’s wisdom, published in 1992 by Og Mandino as The Return of the Ragpicker.

I picked up his book for .25 cents at the local library sale last weekend. Mr. Simon’s words caught my attention. I felt his deep humility and desire to help humankind. He was 92 at his passing. He lamented what we were doing to our world in 1992 – yet he never gave up hope. No matter what is happening, never give up hope.

Subconscious interacts with the Law of Success in a specific way. Napoleon Hill sees the Subconscious Mind as the connecting Link. I am going to quote in detail from his chapter on the Subconscious Mind (Chap. 12 in Think and Grow Rich) in case you only have the heavily edited version. The Law of Attraction information restates what Napoleon Hill said many years ago. He says:

“Through a method of procedure, unknown to man, the subconscious mind draws upon the forces of Infinite Intelligence for the power with which it voluntarily transmutes one’s desires into their physical equivalent, making use, always of the most practical media by which this end may be accomplished.

“There is plenty of evidence to support the belief that the subconscious mind is the connecting link between the finite mind of man and Infinite Intelligence. It is the intermediary through which one may draw upon the forces of Infinite Intelligence at will. It, alone, contains the secret process by which mental impulses are modified and changed into their spiritual equivalent. It alone, is the medium through which prayer may be transmitted to the source capable of answering prayer.

“The possibilities of creative effort connected with the subconscious mind are stupendous and imponderable. They inspire one with awe.”

“….The very fact that the subconscious mind is the medium of communication between the thinking mind of man and Infinite Intelligence is, of itself, a thought which almost paralyzes one’s reason.

“After you have accepted, as a reality, the existence of the subconscious mind, and understand its possibilities, as a medium for transmuting your DESIRES into their physical or monetary equivalent, you will comprehend the full significance of the instructions given in the chapter on DESIRE. You will also understand why you have been repeatedly admonished to MAKE YOUR DESIRES CLEAR, AND TO REDUCE THEM TO WRITING. You will also understand the necessity of PERESISTENCE in carrying out instructions. “

Napoleon Hill goes on to say that the thirteen principles behind the Law of Success “are the stimuli with which you acquire the ability to reach, and to influence your subconscious mind. Do not become discouraged, if you cannot do this upon first attempt. Remember that the subconscious mind may be voluntarily directed only through habit, under the directions given in the chapter on FAITH. You have not yet had time to master faith. Be patient. Be Persistent.”

“A good many statements in the chapters on faith and auto-suggestion will be repeated here, for the benefit of YOUR subconscious mind. Remember, your subconscious mind functions voluntarily, whether you make any effort to influence it or not. This, naturally, suggests to you that thoughts of fear and poverty, and all negative thoughts serve as stimuli to your subconscious mind, unless, you master these impulses and give it more desirable food upon which it may feed.

“The subconscious mind will not remain idle! If you fail to plant DESIRES in your subconscious mind, it will feed upon the thoughts which reach it as the result of your neglect. We have already explained that thought impulses, both negative and positive are reaching the subconscious mind continuously…..

“For the present, it is sufficient if you remember that you are living daily, in the midst of all manner of thought impulses which are reaching your subconscious mind, without your knowledge. Some of these impulses are negative, some are positive. You are now engaged in trying to help shut off the flow of negative impulses, and to aid in voluntarily influencing your subconscious mind, through positive impulses of DESIRE.

“When you achieve this, you will possess the key which unlocks the door to your subconscious mind. Moreover, you will control that door so completely, that no desirable thought may influence your subconscious mind.

“Everything which man creates, BEGINS in the form of a thought impulse. Man can create nothing which he does not first conceive in THOUGHT. Through the aid of the imagination, thought impulses may be assembled into plans. The imagination, when under control, may be used for the creation of plans or purposes that lead to success in one’s chosen occupation.

“All thought impulses, intended for transmutation into their physical equivalent, voluntarily planted in the subconscious mind, must pass through the imagination, and be mixed with faith. The “mixing” of faith with a plan, or purpose, intended for submission to the subconscious mind, may be done ONLY through the imagination.

“From these statements, you will readily observe that the voluntary use of the subconscious mind calls for coordination and application of all the principles.

“Ella Wheeler Wilcox gave evidence of her understanding of the power of the subconscious mind when she wrote:

“You never can tell what a thought will do
In bringing you hate or love-
For thoughts are things, and their airy wings
Are swifter than carrier doves.
They follow the law of the universe-
Each thing creates its kind,
And they speed O’er the track to bring you back
Whatever went out from your mind.”

“Mrs. Wilcox understood the truth, that thoughts which go out from one’s mind, also imbed themselves deeply in one’s subconscious mind, where they serve as a magnet, pattern, or blueprint by which the subconscious mind is influenced while translating them into their physical equivalent. Thoughts are truly things, for the reason that every material thing begins in the form of thought-energy.

“The subconscious mind is more susceptible to influence by impulses of thought mixed with “feeling” or emotion, than by those originating solely in the reasoning portion of the mind. In fact there is much evidence to support the theory, that ONLY emotionalized thoughts have any ACTION influence upon the subconscious mind. It is a well known fact that emotion or feeling, rules the majority of people. If it is true that the subconscious mind responds more quickly to, and is influenced more readily by thought impulses which are well mixed with emotion, it is essential to become familiar with the more important of emotions. There are seven major positive emotions, and seven major negative emotions. The negatives voluntarily inject themselves into the thought impulses, which insure passage into the subconscious mind. The positive must be injected, through the principle of auto-suggestion, into the thought impulses which an individual wishes to pass on to his subconscious mind.

“These emotions, or feeling impulses, may be likened to yeast in a loaf of bread, because they constitute the ACTION element, which transforms through impulses from the passive to the active state. Thus may one understand why thought impulses, which have been well mixed with emotion, are acted upon more readily than thought impulses originating in “cold reason.

“You are preparing yourself to influence and control the “inner audience” of your subconscious mind, in order to hand over to it the DESIRE for money, which you wish transmuted into its monetary equivalent. It is essential, therefore, that you understand the method of approach to this “inner audience.” You must speak its language, or it will not heed your call. It understands best the language of emotion or feeling. …….Remember in this connection, that you are studying a book which is intended to help you develop a “money consciousness” by filling your mind with positive emotions. One does not become money conscious by filling one’s mind with negative emotions.

“Form the habit of applying and using the positive emotions! Eventually they will dominate your mind so completely, that the negatives cannot enter it.”

Don’t Despair

Don’t Despair. Not Now. Not Ever. Lots of changes are happening. Reality may appear discouraging. It’s important however, to look beyond surface appearances. This week, my car overheated on a long drive, and cost a lot to repair. I had planned to return the car I am driving to my daughter who lives in another state. The good news is that the breakdown did not occur on the long trip across the mountains. The week was intense.

When we drop into survival (which I did), we lose our ability to problem solve. That is one of our best assets. Contraction compresses us, and we can’t think as clearly. So here’s what I did. I tried to think about how glad I was that I had help. I didn’t burn up my car or my engine (despite the smoke that came rolling out from under the hood). I had someone come up and help me diagnose the problem. My sister helped me find a place to get the car repaired. I did my best not to worry. I remembered (like a far away dream) how the universe has come through again and again for me when I have needed housing and transportation. I kept looking for signs. Money came into my bank account for the repairs (money I didn’t expect for another seven days).

Unexpected I was referred to a job for five days that replaced five sevenths of the car expense. Amazing. As I canvas different towns, I find that some people are in despair about the economy or about the government, or about the negativism of various campaigns. Some people are overwhelmed by all the phone calls, the blizzard of TV ads, and people knocking on their doors to vote. These people don’t see how it could matter if they vote, or who they vote for.

Despair clouds your thinking. Despair sends you deep into survival thinking. Despair makes you feel like a victim. Your vibration, and what you offer to the universe is very apt to attract more opportunities for you to feel despair, and be victimized. It is for your own wellbeing that you must not despair. Turn your attention to what is working. Find simple things to be grateful for. I found myself saying to people who were going to vote differently “Isn’t it great that we live in a democracy and have the freedom to differ!” And then found myself truly appreciating democracy in a new way.

Do you love having air to breathe, food to eat, clothes to wear? Do you have some transportation? Do you know people you love and care about? Are you cared for? Can you see, hear, taste, breathe and feel? Can you walk? Do you have the use of your arms? These are all good things. Some people don’t. When you think about appreciating these things you do have, often you take a deep breath and go “Oh yes, that feels better.”

When we feel just a little bit of relief, we help move ourselves out of despair – up the emotional scale
Life gets better. An increment at a time.
